The brief
Add a current-Region Amazon S3 gateway VPC endpoint to the supplied VPC and associate it with the route table used by the 10.42.2.0/24 private subnet. Keep public IPv4 assignment disabled on that subnet, preserve the public subnet's 0.0.0.0/0 internet-gateway route, and do not add a default route to the private route table.
